The Penn State Nittany Lions will host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Beaver Stadium on Saturday.

The Scarlet Knights are 1–1 after starting their season with a win over Norfolk State and a loss to Washington State in Week 2. Saturday's game will be the first for Rutgers without head coach Kyle Flood, who was suspended for three games and fined $50,000 for violating the school's policy on contacting academic faculty about players.

Penn State was edged out by Temple in its season opener. After the team literally buried the loss, they went on to beat Buffalo 27–14 in Week 2. Freshman running back Saquon Barkley stood out against the Bulls, running the ball 12 times for 115 yards and one touchdown.
