LOS ANGELES (AP) In a story Feb. 4 about the UCLA-USC game, The Associated Press erroneously reported the final score. Southern California beat UCLA 80-61.

Southern California stunned UCLA with a 9-0 run to open the game and the Trojans never looked back

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Southern California stunned UCLA with a 9-0 run to open the game and the Trojans never looked back.

They kept up the defensive pressure for 40 minutes, put together scoring runs and won 80-61 Thursday night for USC's 14th consecutive home victory that moved the Trojans into a tie for second in the Pac-12.

''It really started on the defensive end,'' said Julian Jacobs, who led USC with 17 points. ''J-Mac (Jordan McLaughlin) got us going early with steals and got us out in transition. When you're out in transition, we're one of the most dynamic teams.''

Elijah Stewart added 16 points and Katin Reinhardt had 13 for the Trojans (18-5, 7-3), who tied idle Washington in the standings. They equaled the second-longest home winning streak in school history and are off to their best start since 1991-92 when they were 18-4.

''At this point, people actually know who we are walking around campus,'' Jacobs said. ''As opposed to the last two years when you're the laughingstock of the Pac-12.''

Aaron Holiday led UCLA with 15 points before fouling out in the closing seconds. Tony Parker added 13 points and Thomas Welsh had 12 rebounds for the Bruins (13-10, 4-6), who have lost three of their last four. They shot a season-low 35 percent.

''We came out slow and it really hurt us,'' Holiday said. ''We're down nine and we couldn't get into a flow. I felt like we played defensively pretty well. We just kept missing shots. They'd get misses, turnovers and easy buckets.''

UCLA made one run late in the second half, scoring seven straight points to get to 62-56. Bryce Alford had a 3-pointer and a free throw after Chimezie Metu received a technical for grabbing the rim, and Isaac Hamilton hit a 3.

Alford was held to 10 points on 3 of 13 shooting - seven under his team-leading average. Hamilton, the Bruins' second leading scorer at 16.6 points, also was limited to 10.

''Our goal was to try to make it challenging for them because we know how good they are,'' USC coach Andy Enfield said. ''We have pretty good guards too.''

Stewart answered with a 3-pointer that extended USC's lead to 65-56 and the Trojans closed the game on a 15-5 run.

''Last year we couldn't close games,'' Jacobs said. ''We didn't have the maturity.''

USC completed a rare season sweep of its crosstown rival.

''We expected to win both games,'' Jacobs said. ''Whether we play defense or not is usually the determining factor.''

Earlier in the second, the Bruins cut their deficit to 48-39 after Parker scored six straight points. Reinhardt answered with a 3-pointer and another basket to restore USC's double-digit lead.

UCLA trailed 39-28 at the break.

USC didn't waste any time being aggressive, with Jacobs scoring five seconds into the game off the opening tip. The Trojans kept up their energy throughout the half, outscoring UCLA 14-5 for their largest lead, 35-21. Reinhardt and Stewart hit consecutive 3-pointers and Stewart dunked off an alley-oop pass from McLaughlin to cap the spurt. McLaughlin finished with nine points after not scoring until the game's final 5:22.

TIP-INS

UCLA: The Bruins got swept by the Trojans in the regular season for the first time since 2009-10, having lost 89-75 last month. ... They fell to 7-3 all-time at Galen Center after winning their previous four meetings here.

USC: It was the first sellout at 10,258-seat Galen Center since Jan. 9, 2011, when the Trojans beat the Bruins 63-52. ... F Darion Clark will be out a couple weeks with a dislocated right shoulder after falling on it in practice a day earlier. ... Football coach Clay Helton attended. ... Former Trojan Gus Williams, a three-time letterman from 1973-75, had his No. 10 jersey retired at halftime. ... Former USC football player A.C. Cowlings, who famously drove O.J. DIGGINS FAN

After the game, McLaughlin was wearing an autographed Skylar Diggins jersey from her Notre Dame days. He got it through his mother's friend who owns a memorabilia store.

''I'm a huge fan of Skylar Diggins,'' McLaughlin said, smiling.

Asked if he liked the WNBA star's game or her looks, he replied, ''Everything.''

Someone suggested McLaughlin send her one of his signed jerseys.

''I should figure out her address and send her one if it's not too creepy,'' he said.

ROUGH ROAD

The loss opened the Bruins' three-game road trip. Next up is a trip to the Arizona schools, where the crowds are loud and rowdy.

''This is a tough stretch and we've got to find it,'' UCLA coach Steve Alford said. ''We went 4-5 in the first half (of league play).''

UCLA beat both of the Arizona schools at home last month before its first defeat to USC. The Bruins have eight days to prepare.

''We've had two really good years, losing a lot of guys to the (NBA) league that we've got to replace,'' Alford said. ''We know we've got a lot of help coming, so we've got to make sure this year we're getting better.''
