Maryland suspends Diamond Stone one game for flagrant foul
Maryland has suspended center Diamond Stone one game for a flagrant foul he committed in Saturday’s loss to Wisconsin.
The incident took place in the closing seconds of the first half, with Wisconsin up 35–19. After a fight for a lose ball, Stone used his body to bring Brown to the ground, then shoved his head into the court. A scuffle ensued.
Stone was charged with a flagrant I, and was not ejected.

In a statement, the Big Ten said it agreed with the suspension.
“Stone’s actions were in violation of Big Ten Conference Agreement 10.1,” the conference said, “which states in part that ‘The Big Ten Conference expects all contests involving a member institution to be conducted without compromise to any fundamental element of sportsmanship. Such fundamental elements include integrity of competition, civility toward all, and respect, particularly toward opponents and officials.’”
Maryland fell to No. 6 in the latest AP Top 25 poll.
