John Calipari, Kentucky players upset with officiating in loss
After a 79–77 overtime loss to Texas A&M, John Calipari and his Kentucky team voiced their dissent over the game’s officiating.
In the closing minute of overtime, Wildcats big man Isaac Humphries was called for a technical foul when he spiked the ball after blocking a shot and collecting the rebound.
“There was no disrespect to anybody,” Calipari said after the game. “If that’s what they choose to call, what are you going to do?”
Humphries tweeted after the game that he would try and learn from his mistake.
Kentucky gave the Aggies a pair of free throws due to the technical, and lost soon after.
Tyler Ulis also expressed his disappointment with the call.
“He was saying sorry and stuff,” Ulis said of Humphries, “but he had nothing to be sorry about. We can’t blame this on Isaac [Humphries] at all. He’s still in the locker room saying he’s sorry.”
The No. 14 Wildcats are now 20–7 and play Alabama on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
