Shortly after the NCAA tournament field was announced, Texas coach Shaka Smart joined Scout.com to discuss the Longhorns’ upcoming matchup with Northern Iowa as well as his coaching strategy in March.

The former VCU coach is making his sixth trip to the NCAA tournament and his first with Texas, where he began coaching this season. He took the Rams to the Final Four in 2010–11, his second year at the school, and hasn’t missed the tournament since.

“We’re really excited about the opportunity,” Smart said. “Northern Iowa is actually a team that we know pretty well, because over the last couple years our coaching staff at VCU, at the time, got a chance to compete against them.”
