Former Florida quarterback Will Grier has transferred to West Virginia, the university announced.

Grier, 21, first declared his intention to transfer in December.

Grier was the starting quarterback for the Gators last season before he tested positive for a banned substance and was suspended for the year. Due to the transfer, he will sit out the entire 2016 season and then miss part of the 2017 season because of his suspension. Grier has said that he tested positive after taking a substance that was obtained over the counter.

Grier appealed the suspension in November and lost. West Virginia is still uncertain whether Grier will be available to play at the start of the 2017 season. West Virginia may submit or request a waiver to try and get Grier eligible after he sits out due to transfer rules, according to CBS.

Grier finished last season with 106 of 161 passes completed for 1,204 yards and 10 touchdowns in six games.
