Baylor will not release the full report that law firm Pepper Hamilton delivered to the university regarding its handling of sexual assault allegations because the findings were originally presented orally, interim president David Garland wrote Friday.

In a letter penned to “Baylor Nation,” Garland said that the Findings of Fact and Recommendations provided by Pepper Hamilton and published on Baylor’s website, reflect the facts presented in the full report.

Garland was responding to groups ranging from a Baylor alumni group to media organizations that have called for the original, written report conducted by Pepper Hamilton to be released fully. Garland clarified that no such written report exists, and that the Findings of Fact report was formatted to protect the privacy of the people involved.

Garland also stated that Baylor is taking steps to be in compliance with Title IX, the Clery Act and the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013, among other state and federal obligations.

Former Baylor coach Art Briles was fired for his role in scandal, in which Baylor administration and athletic department personnel were found to have ignored allegations of sexual assault against members of the football team.

President Ken Starr was also moved to the role of chancellor, but quickly resigned from that position. He will remain a professor at the law school.
