Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin has accepted the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic University, the school announced Tuesday.

Kiffin was introduced during a press conference.

No financial or length of contract terms were announced, but Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman reports Kiffin will sign a five-year deal.

Kiffin, 41, takes over a program that has gone 3–9 in each of the last three seasons, and fired its head coach, Charlie Partridge, in November. After going to bowls in 2007 and 2008, the Owls are 28–67 over the past eight seasons.

Kiffin has been frequently mentioned for other jobs, and the former USC, Tennessee and Oakland Raiders head coach also was believed to be a candidate for now-filled head coaching openings at Oregon and Houston in recent days.

Kiffin lasted 20 games with the Oakland Raiders in 2007 and 2008, going 5–15. In his lone season at Tennessee, in 2009, Kiffin led the team to a 7–6 record. And he went 28–15 in parts of four seasons at USC, getting fired five games into the 2013 season.

He went to Alabama the following year and had been an annual fixture in coaching-opening whispers since.
