Report: Ryan Day, Ohio State Agree to Five-Year Contract As Head Coach
Ohio State has agreed to a five-year contract with Ryan Day to be the new Buckeyes head coach following Urban Meyer's retirement, according to The Athletic's Bruce Feldman. The deal will be worth $4.5 million.
On Tuesday, Ohio State announced that Meyer will retire at the end of the season following the Rose Bowl Game against Washington on Jan. 1.

Day, who served as Meyer's offensive coordinator in each of the past two seasons, will now reportedly oversee the program through 2023. He reportedly was offered the Titans offensive coordinator job and also declined an offer to be Mississippi State's head coach.
Earlier this season, Day, 39, served as the Buckeyes' interim head coach for the first three games of the 2018 season when Meyer was suspended for his role in handling of domestic abuse allegations against former wide receivers coach Zach Smith. Day led Ohio State to a 3–0 start.
Day previously coached in the NFL for two years and spent 10 seasons as a Division I assistant. He began coaching in 2002 as a tight ends coach at New Hampshire, priro to joining Meyer's staff at Florida as a graduate assistant in 2005.
Day coached wide receivers at Temple in 2006 before working in the same role with Boston College from 2007-11. He served as offensive coordinator and oversaw quarterbacks at Temple in 2012, then returned to Boston College in the same capacity.
Then Day worked as quarterbacks coach under Chip Kelly with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015, as well as the 49ers in 2016, before joining Meyer's Ohio State staff in 2017.
