Texas A&M and coach Jimbo Fisher received bad news on the injury front regarding emerging star quarterback Conner Weigman.

Weigman left Saturday’s win over Auburn with a leg injury, which after testing is reportedly worse than originally thought.

Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle was the first to report that Weigman could miss the rest of the season. Billy Liucci of TexAgs confirmed Zwerneman’s report, and added that it could be a three-and-a-half month recovery for the sophomore as he recovers from an injury to a weight-bearing bone in his leg.

After throwing eight touchdowns to zero interceptions last season in five appearances, Weigman stepped into the full-time starting role as a sophomore and quickly emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the SEC. Weigman has completed 68.9% of his passes this season for 979 yards and eight touchdowns to two interceptions.

Now that his season appears to be done, the Aggies will likely turn to veteran Max Johnson as the team’s starter moving forward.
