Caitlin Clark, Iowa Basketball Draw Line Around the Block Ahead of Game vs. Northwestern

Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes play the Northwestern Wildcats on Wednesday night, and it was clear that fans were extremely excited to watch the biggest name in college basketball right now in action.

A video captured by the Chicago Tribune’s Julia Poe showed fans wrapped around about half of the Welsh-Ryan Arena two whole hours before tip-off. The video was sped up making it seem like the line was never ending, which it was in a way, as the game is sold out. There were lots of fans with posters, and some sporting Hawkeyes gear.

Fans showed up a lot earlier than 5 p.m. CT for the 7 p.m. tip-off. The Athletic’s Jon Greenberg posted that some fans were in line starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, including a young girl with a poster reading “Go Caitlin. I’m your #1 fan.”

Inside the arena before tip, there was plenty of love for the road team.

Clark is currently attempting to break the all-time scoring record in women’s college basketball, which is held by Kelsey Plum’s 3,527 points. Clark enters Wednesday’s game with 3,389 points.
