Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is in the unique position of being able to make fun of both Manning brothers in equal measure.

Though he coached neither Peyton nor Eli, the Rebels boss has spent time at both of their alma maters: Kiffin coached Tennessee in 2009 and has led Ole Miss since 2020. In addition, Kiffin coached against Peyton with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a defensive quality control coach in 2000 and the Oakland Raiders as head coach in ’07.

You can trust, then, that Kiffin's broadside toward Peyton Friday morning came from a place of knowledge.

During Thursday's Pro Bowl Games event, Eli posted a picture to social media captioned "7 QB's and one guy wearing jeans." In the picture, Eli and Peyton—in jeans—posed with the Seattle SeahawksGeno Smith, the Tampa Bay BuccaneersBaker Mayfield, the Philadelphia EaglesJalen Hurts, the Houston Texans' C.J. Stroud, the Miami DolphinsTua Tagovailoa, and the Indianapolis ColtsGardner Minshew.

“East Tennessee thing I guess,” Kiffin gleefully quote-tweeted Eli, with an orange-colored heart for the Volunteers program.

Both Mannings attended high school in New Orleans. However, only one spent any appreciable amount of time in east Tennessee.
