It’s the momentum shift, the power in the aftermath, the eye-widening reaction of the crowd just before they let out a collective “ooh,” it’s art, makes sense that it’s referred to as a poster.

Dunking over the top of an opposing player is, arguably, the top highlight in sports, but certainly the hardwood.

Each week SI All American will highlight that feat by scouring the country to find the top poster and crown that player with our Poster of the Week award.

This week, Montverde (Fla.) Academy forward Jalen Duren takes home the hardware.

In a recent game at the St. James NIBC Invitational, Duren caught a pass on the low block, took a simple drop-step and threw down a vicious one-hander over a defender who, in hindsight, should’ve just let him have that one.

“It’s an honor to win the Poster of the Week award,” said Duren, who was one of just five underclassmen named to the preseason SI All-American team. “It’s cool to see hard work paying off.”
