Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson is planning to isolate from his wife for the entire football season.

Clawson's wife Catherine is a cancer survivor, so he does not want to put her at risk for COVID-19.

Clawson told ESPN that Catherine underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments for breast cancer in 2017. Doctors said because of her reduced white blood cell count she is at higher risk and could have complications if she contracted the coronavirus.

Catherine is currently cancer-free and in good health, but the two decided the only safe response to the virus would be to remain separated once coaches resume face-to-face interactions with players.

This decision means Clawson will begin isolating from his wife when football camp opens on July 12 and won't see her again until the season concludes.
