A new commercial has brought former Cincinnati Bengal Ickey Woods and his legendary Ickey Shuffle back into the national spotlight, and given us all a new catch phrase for our time at the deli counter.

Woods quickly faded to obscurity after his breakout rookie season, and eponymous dance, captured the nation's attention in 1988, even earning him a Sports Illustrated cover. It looks like he still has the moves, or at least the charisma that launched him to stardom.

Jan. 10, 1982

"The Freezer Bowl" between Cincinnati and San Diego is the coldest game ever recorded, at a wind chill factor that approached -59 degrees Fahrenheit. The Cincinnati offensive linemen did not wear sleeves -- an attempt to try to intimidate the San Diego players. The Bengals defeated the Chargers 27-7.

Jan. 8, 1989

Rookie Icky Woods rushes for 102 yards and two TDs as Bengals defeat Buffalo 21-10 to qualify for their second Super Bowl. Cincinnati defense intercepts two of Jim Kelly's first two passes, three overall.

Jan. 22, 1989

Less than a minute from their first world championship, the Bengals watch Joe Montana throw a 10-yard TD pass to John Taylor with 34 seconds left as the 49ers win Super Bowl XXIII, 20-16. Stanford Jennings highlights the Bengals' effort with a 93-yard kickoff return for a brief 13-6 third quarter lead.

Jan. 24, 1982

Cincinnati appears in its first ever Super Bowl, against the San Francisco 49ers at the Silverdome in Detroit. The Bengals lost the game 26-21, but set three Super Bowl records: most receptions (11 by receiver Dan Ross), most completions (25 by Ken Anderson) and highest completion percentage (73.5 %).

Jan. 2, 1983

In a 35-27 victory over the Houston Oilers, quarterback Ken Anderson throws 20 consecutive passes and finishes the season winning his second consecutive passing title. He finished the season with a 70.55% completion percentage, which was a record at the time.

Dec. 4, 1997

Talented but controversial running back Corey Dillon rushes for 246 yards on 39 carries against the Denver Broncos, setting an NFL rookie record that had been held for almost 40 years by former Browns running back Jim Brown.

Dec. 5, 2004

The Bengals take one step closer to a playoff berth by beating the Baltimore Ravens on the road, breaking a 42-game losing streak to winning teams on the road, an NFL record. The Bengals would make the playoffs that season.
