As fun as watching grass grow: The best baseball field patterns

Groundskeeper Ben Young uses a lawnmower to make intricate patterns in baseball fields. Who knew watching grass grow could be so fun?

Ben Young knows his way around a mower. The head groundskeeper for the AA Altoona Curve in Pennsylvania was named the winner of the Sports Turf Managers Association’s second Mowing Patterns Contest, with his “four patterns” design the winning look. But Young isn’t a one-hit — or four-hit — mower. Here's a smattering of the grass cutter’s other creations:
