Tennessee walk-on gets scholarship for Christmas

Monday December 22nd, 2014

Tennessee walk-on tight end Alex Ellis got a better Christmas present than any of his teammates.

Vols coach Butch Jones surprised Ellis at a team meeting with a scholarship. "I've been dreaming about this every day of my life," Ellis said.

Ellis, a redshirt junior from Del Mar, Delaware, has six catches on the year, including a touchdown on a fake punt against Missouri.

Jones told the team he was giving out bowl gifts ahead of the team's Jan. 2 appearance in the Taxslayer Bowl, but this is definitely cooler than the watch they'll get at the game.
