Over 200 people in America have the name 'Nike'

More than 200 people in America are named “Nike.”

It's a pretty common occurrence to see a child named after a popular celebrity, athlete, or public figure.

But what about being named after brands?

A Five Thirty Eight analysis of data from the Social Security Administration found that 206 Americans are named “Nike.” Presumably, the majority of those were inspired by the extremely successful manufacturer itself.

But who's being named “Nike?” According to Five Thirty Eight's research, the name essentially has a 50/50 split between males and females. And perhaps appropriately, according to BabyCenter.com, the name means “victory.”

Other presumably sports-related names on Five Thirty Eight's list, which found the most popular unisex names in the U.S., include “Babe” and “Wrigley.”

You might find naming a kid after a company such as “Nike” odd, but you have to admire parents who are able to look past any potential criticism and just do it.
