Extra Mustard’s wildest Super Bowl halftime moment countdown
The NFL will celebrate the 50th edition of the Super Bowl with a halftime show starring Coldplay and including an appearance from Beyoncé next month, which should be enough to keep everyone very mildly entertained without rocking too many boats.
The mid-game concert does not always go as smoothly as the league would like though, and Extra Mustard has combed through the extravaganzas to find the craziest moments from the halftime show.

6. Nelly Invents the Split Jersey

The NFL applied its preferred “more is more” style to the Super Bowl XXV show with Aerosmith, ’N Sync, Britney Spears and Mary J. Blige on stage. However,the most memorable component of the concert was Nelly’s split jersey abomination featuring both the Ravens and Giants in one uniform. The only people allowed to wear these are families with two children in the NFL on separate teams. Nelly is not Archie Manning.
5. Bruce Springsteen Crotch Slide
The Boss was part of the great classic rock overhaul of the halftime show that took place after an incident that we will discuss later in this post. Just because Bruce Springsteen is old doesn’t mean he can’t stir things up a little bit, launching a knee slide that ended with America getting an extreme closeup of his crotch. He also called guacamole “guacamole dip” to start the show, which is not inaccurate but definitely wild.

4. Up with People
You have not seen wild until you have seen Up With People put together a loosely choreographed tribute to the hits of 1986.

3. Left Shark
In retrospect, the free-form dance moves of left shark are not as shocking as the massive reaction they received. For a while Left Shark was the meme du jour with at least one zeitgeist-loving soul deciding to have it inked on his body forever.
2. M.I.A. Gives the Finger

The NFL is a family product, but during Madonna’s halftime performance the nation had its innocence ripped away from it when special guest M.I.A. briefly flipped off a camera, leading the league to sue the rapper for $16.6 million. The two sides settled out of court, but the nation is still recovering from the shock.
