Barack Obama appeared in a skit and joked about sports betting on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert after the Super Bowl.

Colbert’s show aired on CBS immediately after the Broncos’ 24–10 win over the Panthers, and he brought in the president — and later the first lady — for an entertaining spot.

Obama appeared in a pre-taped segment that Colbert first pretended was a live shot. Colbert asked him if he watched the Super Bowl and began a quippy dialogue. Obama notably made a crack about sports betting.

“Of course I did,” Obama said after Colbert asked if he saw the game. “After every Super Bowl, I call the winning team to congratulate them. And sometimes I call the losing team, especially if I bet on them.” Colbert told him gambling was illegal, and Obama joked, “I’m the president. I hereby pardon myself.”

He then topped himself with a National Treasure joke when asked if he knew who won the Super Bowl.

“Stephen, I am the president – and it turns out all the Super Bowl winners for the next 50 years are written on the back of the Constitution,” Obama said. “That’s the plot of National Treasure 3.”

He then hinted at...National Treasure 3 existing.

“That’s what you think. There will be,” he said of the possible next installment. “The script is on the back of the Declaration of Independence.”

First lady Michelle Obama made a brief appearance at the end of the segment.
