One of the perks of being a catcher is having some armor on hand in case of emergency. So when Salvador Perez saw Eric Hosmer’s bat go flying over his head, he decided to protect himself. 

Hosmer had the bat go flying out of his hands after taking a big cut and it spun like a helicopter right over Perez’s dome.
