Mike Greenberg Will Do Darkness Retreat If Jets Trade for Aaron Rodgers

Much has been made of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers going on a “darkness retreat” in which he spent multiple days in a small dark house in the woods earlier this offseason.

Rodgers took part in the darkness retreat to help him evaluate his playing future, whether that’s in Green Bay, with another team, or instead opting for retirement.

The Jets have been linked as one of the teams potentially interested in trading for Rodgers if he were to become available, and ESPN Get Up host and lifelong Jets fan Mike Greenberg will do just about anything to bring him to New York.

“But in my effort to try to do everything I can to speak this into existence. . . I have made the declaration that if Aaron Rodgers signs with the Jets, I will do the darkness retreat,” Greenberg said. “I’m going to Oregon or wherever else they may have these darkness retreats and I’ll do it. I’ll go into the dark for three days or whatever it takes, because I’ve been in the darkness for 50 years with this franchise. I’ll do anything I can to put these vibes out there, what do you think Orlovsky?”

NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky quickly joked about Greenberg’s hotel preference in response to Greenberg’s declaration.

“I don’t think the Four Seasons has that option. It’s gonna be an uphill sled for you champ. I’m not joining you by the way, I’m not doing that,” he quipped, which had the set erupting in laughter.

It’s safe to say Greenberg is tired of the mediocrity of the Jets, and would be more than happy to welcome Rodgers to Green Bay with open arms if the opportunity presents itself.
