Colts’ Anthony Richardson Pranks Reporters With Marshawn Lynch Riff

The rookie quarterback promised his mom he would say the famous line at his press conference Tuesday.

It’s hard to forget Marshawn Lynch’s iconic line back in 2015 at media day before Super Bowl XLIX: “I’m just here so I won’t get fined.”

Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson paid homage to the retired running back Tuesday during his press conference after the team’s first day of mandatory minicamp.

Unlike Lynch, though, Richardson meant it solely as a prank to the reporters in the room. The former Florida star said he promised his mom that he would say it during his press conference.

“What’s been your impression so far of this lifestyle being an NFL quarterback? ... How’s it measured up to kind of what you thought this would be?” a reporter in attendance asked.

Richardson thought for a few seconds, and then said, “I’m just here so I won’t get fined. … No, I’m just kidding.”

The media room subsequently erupted into laughter.
