Luke Voit’s Sleeveless Flex Went Viral, and Baseball Fans Had Jokes

While Luke Voit is trying to get back to the major leagues, he is playing for the Mets’ Triple A affiliate in Syracuse, hoping the Mets or another team will take another chance on him. In the meantime, the veteran first baseman is having fun with the fact that he can adhere to looser uniform restrictions.

On Saturday night, the Syracuse Mets hosted the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, and the Mets wore “Salt City” alternate uniforms that featured sleeveless jerseys. Most Mets players and coaches wore a shirt with sleeves underneath—but not the muscular Voit, who took the field without sleeves and his jersey half unbuttoned.

On social media, baseball fans enjoyed Voit leaning into his look.

While wearing the sleeveless jersey, Voit only had one hit on the night—but it was a 424-foot homer off the scoreboard that raised his Triple A OPS to .983.

Voit, who led the majors with 22 homers for the Yankees during the shortened 2022 season, appears to be taking advantage of the more amenable rules in the minor leagues.
