Mets Fan Fell Onto Field During Game and ESPN's KayRod Broadcast Didn't Even Notice

In a bizarre scene during Monday’s Mets game against the Giants, play was paused after a fan at Citi Field fell onto the field.

During the bottom of the fifth inning, one fan out in the right field section apparently fell over over the railing and onto the warning track. 

The game was paused for nearly two minutes while security helped escort the fan off the playing field. All the while, it appears that ESPN’s “KayRod Cast” broadcast crew was entirely unaware of the situation.

As the incident occurred, those watching the “KayRod Cast” of the game were not informed of what was going on. Instead, Alex Rodriguez and Christopher Russo continued their conversation without paying any mind to the game.

Michael Kay’s facial expressions suggest he was confused about what was going on out in right field, but ultimately the conversation continued on throughout the brief delay.

As the fan exited the field through the bullpen gate, Russo was blabbering on about how baseball “has trouble being part of the national conversation.” He went on throughout much of the delay, not stopping for a moment to address why the game had been put on pause.

The fan was later spotted back in the stands out in right field, so it seems as if the incident wasn’t too big of a deal.

As for Rodriguez and Russo, they still might not even be aware of what went down in the fifth inning.
