Start ’Em, Sit ’Em Kickers and Team Defenses Fantasy Football Week 15: Dolphins Get it Done

It’s always a safe play to take whichever defense is facing the Jets.

Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em is the ultimate look at the best and worst matchups based on a PPR scoring system in fantasy football. This column will not cover the elite players in the NFL like Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey or Justin Jefferson. Instead, I'll look at the players you have questions about who could exceed or fail to meet expectations at each position. For all of your final fantasy lineup decisions, be sure to check out my weekly player rankings which will be updated daily throughout the 2023 NFL season.

Week 15 Start ’Em: Defenses

Start of the Week

Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey skips to the side with his hands up by his chest

Dolphins defense vs. Jets (1 p.m. ET, CBS): The Dolphins defense has been a popular streamer due to a stretch of good matchups, and this week against the Jets is no different. Their offense has allowed 55 sacks and committed 24 giveaways, and Zach Wilson has always been prone to his share of mistakes.

Start ’Em

Rams defense vs. Commanders (4:05 p.m. ET, CBS): The Rams defense has been unreliable from a fantasy standpoint, but a matchup against the Commanders makes it a nice option. Their offense has surrendered 58 sacks and committed 23 giveaways this season, so the Rams are in a good spot in this NFC matchup.

Week 15 Sit ’Em: Defenses

Sit of the Week

Patriots defense vs. Chiefs (1 p.m. ET, Fox): The Chiefs offense isn’t what it used to be in terms of the stats, but it’s still allowed a mere 18 sacks and has not been what you would call friendly from a defensive matchup perspective. So, while the Patriots defense is playing very well lately, I’m fading it against Kansas City.

Sit ’Em

Jets defense at Dolphins (1 p.m. ET, CBS): The Jets put up a nice stat line last week, scoring 12 fantasy points in a win over the Texans. I wouldn’t chase those points this week, though, as Gang Green faces a brutal road matchup against the Dolphins’ high-scoring offense. As a result, I’d look elsewhere for defensive help.

Buccaneers defense at Packers ($2,900)

Fabs’ Top 10 Kickers

1. Brandon Aubrey at Bills
2. Justin Tucker at Jaguars
3. Jake Elliott at Seahawks (Mon.)
4. Evan McPherson vs. Vikings (Sat.)
5. Jason Myers vs. Eagles (Mon.)
6. Harrison Butker at Patriots
7. Wil Lutz at Lions (Sat.)
8. Dustin Hopkins vs. Bears
9. Brandon McManus vs. Ravens 10.
Matt Gay vs. Steelers (Sat.)

Week 15 Start ’Em: Kickers

Start of the Week

Jason Myers vs. Eagles (Mon. 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN): Myers has been up and down in the stat sheets, but this week's matchup against the Eagles on Monday night makes him a nice streamer. Over the last four weeks, their defense has allowed the second most fantasy points to kickers at an average of more than 10 points.

Chris Boswell at Colts (Sat. 4:30 p.m. ET, NFL Network): Boswell has failed to score more than six points in three of his last four games, but he does have a nice matchup against the Colts this week. Their defense has allowed at least eight points to kickers in all but four games, and five of them have posted double digits.

More Starts

Evan McPherson vs. Vikings (Sat. 1 p.m. ET, NFL Network)
Brandon McManus vs. Ravens (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC)
Lucas Havrisik vs. Commanders (4:05 p.m. ET, CBS)

Week 15 Sit ’Em: Kickers

Sit of the Week

Tyler Bass vs. Cowboys (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox): Bass has been solid lately, as he’s scored at least eight points in three straight games. I think he’ll take a step back this week, though, as he faces a Cowboys defense that has allowed just one kicker to score double digits. In all, Dallas has surrendered the fewest points to kickers.

Sit ’Em

Cairo Santos at Browns (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Santos has been one of the top kickers in fantasy land, averaging 8.6 points per game. That’s tied for the fourth most in the NFL. Still, a matchup in Cleveland makes him tough to trust. Their defense has been tough on kickers at home, allowing a maximum of five points in a game.
