Charles Schwab Gambling Odds: Best Bets and Dark Horses
As golfers get ready to hit the course in the Charles Schwab Challenge, the sports books released their odds for who will win the tournament. With a lot of the top-ranked golfers set to compete from Colonial Golf Course in Fort Worth, Texas there’s plenty of opportunities to bet on the field including favorites Rory McIllroy (8/1), Jon Rahm (12/1), and Justin Thomas (16/1). For gamblers looking to bet on golfers that are outside the upper echelon of the favorites, Sports Illustrated’s gambling analyst Frank Taddeo and Ben Heisler identify some of their best bets and dark-horses for the PGA’s event in the attached video.

Bill Enright: The PGA Tour returns with the Charles Schwab Challenge. And there's some money to be made if you're a DFS player with Draft Kings offering a millionaire maker for this weekend's contest. Let's talk about who to build your lineup around with Sports Illustrated's fantasy analyst Ben Heisler and Frank Taddeo. Ben, I'm going to start with you. Give me some of your tier one and tier two players.
Ben Heisler: I think starting attier one, especially if you're trying to go get that million dollars bill, you actually might get lower ownership with somebody like Rory McIlroy. Now, I don't particularly care for the matchup for him. It's his first time at Colonial and he's coming in at just under $12,000 over at Draft Kings. So I'm probably fading him. But I do like Jon Rahm in this course, especially with his ability to putt. Well, he should be in great shape. Webb Simpson is another guy that I like just under 10000 as well. And if you're looking for some savings, both Ryan Palmer and Kevin Kisner come in that middle of that $74,000, $75,000 range on draft kings to get you a little bit of salary savings.
Bill Enright: Frank, let me go over to you, are there are any golfers that you want to make sure that you have in your lineup for this weekend?
Frank Taddeo: Yeah, I would definitely say there's three of them that for me I would want to build around and obviously one of them is Bernhard Langer. Obviously, he's only $6,000 right now on Draft Kings. And that means that that affords all players the opportunity when setting their lineups to be able to possibly target other higher price players because he's so far down the list. He's well beyond the most of the top players. So for me, I would definitely include him in all of my lineups this weekend. In addition, I would definitely be looking at guys like Webb Simpson at 90-100 who's not going to be up there with the eleven, twelve thousand. Like Ben referenced with Rory McIlroy and some of the higher priced players. And I think I would definitely look to include Im Sung-jae as well. Those are three players that I would definitely like to have in my lineup in DFS this weekend in the Colonial.
Bill Enright: Glad to have some DFS action back on the slate. Plenty more gambling and fantasy coverage. You can find it by going to SI.com/fantasy.
