Gold Man Takes Center Stage While LIV Golf Takes Shape

Gold man came out of nowhere to steal the show at The Players Championship, while the Greg Norman led LIV Golf Invitational Series pushes forward

It's been a wild week in golf between the debut of an animated version of The Players Championship trophy and the launch of an official schedule from the Saudi-backed, Greg Norman led LIV Golf Invvitational Series. Cameron Smith dazzled at TPC Sawgrass while Gold Man puzzled viewers throughout the week with a slew of appearances through NBC's coverage. Even Tiger Woods' famed 'Better than Most' putt was re-enacted by the strange gold figure, and Tiger had a close look at it himself.

Last we checked in with LIV Golf, Greg Norman was issuing an ominous letter to PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan while seemingly every player except for Phil Mickelson pledged their loyalty to the Tour. This did little to deter Norman as the upstart league has announced an eight-tournament schedule with purses larger than the record $20 million just paid out at the Players.

Speaking of Mickelson, he remains on the sidelines as the USGA and R&A map out next steps to curb distance at the game's highest levels.

All that and more in this week's episode.
