LIV Golfer Apologizes After Drunk Twitter Exchange With DP World Tour Player

LIV Golf member Richard Bland and DP World Tour player Eddie Pepperell made peace Monday after a Twitter spat saw them take digs at each other in the aftermath of a discussion about the boisterous "watering hole" that was employed during the LIV Golf Adelaide event in Australia.
Bland, a popular player on the DP World Tour whose lone victory came in 2021 after nearly two decades on the circuit, admitted in a tweet that "I should have known better not tweet under the influence."
The two got mixed up in an exchange that weighed the merits of the 12th hole at the Grange Golf Club, where Chase Koepka made a hole-in-one during the final round of the LIV event, which elicited a huge celebration that included numerous cups and debris thrown onto the tee.
The scene elicited talk of the atmosphere at the 16th hole that is part of the WM Phoenix Open on the PGA Tour.
Bland argued that the DP World Tour—formerly the European Tour—never had such a festive atmosphere anywhere. Pepperell, also from England, countered that the tour had tried numerous initiatives over the years.
Bland’s dig at Pepperell he had only been on tour "for 15 minutes" compared to his 22 years, to which Pepperell replied that he had won more tournaments in his "15 minutes" than Bland in 22 years.
Pepperell, 32, has two wins on the circuit. Bland, who recently turned 50, joined LIV Golf last year and admitted that his comments came after "too many" drinks. A user had wondered if he was "on the sauce."
"Had to be! We all say silly things when alcohol is involved," Pepperell said. “Either way, I haven’t taken it personally.’’
Said Bland: "Unfortunately I did have too many last Ed. I apologize for what I said. I should know better not to tweet under the influence."
They went about making up afterward.
Bland tied for 32nd at the LIV Golf Adelaide event.
