Steph Curry Jokes Playoff Loss Has Been Key to Celebrity Golf Tourney Success

Warriors star Stephen Curry is off to a great start at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, as he led the celebrity tournament heading into the weekend.
Curry, who is no stranger to success on the hardwood as one of the best shooters to ever live, is a scratch golfer who plays frequently in the offseason.
When asked by NBC what’s gone into his game to get off to such a strong start in the tournament, the point guard jokingly credited Golden State’s loss in the Western Conference semifinals as being a reason for why he’s playing such good golf.
“Losing to the Lakers,” Curry said laughing when asked why his golf game was in such good shape. “I had an early start to Tahoe prep. That’s it.”

While Golden State failed to defend its NBA title captured last summer, Curry still remained every bit as potent on the floor. Curry averaged 29.4 points per game on 49.3% shooting from the floor and 42.7% shooting from three.
Perhaps he can capture a golf tournament title instead with strong play through the weekend in Lake Tahoe.
