Braves Briefing: Michael Harris is SO back

Just yesterday our own Jake Mastroianni wrote about centerfielder Michael Harris and how he's struggled to get traction at the plate in 2023.

Apparently Money Mike reads Braves Today. And/or #SlanderWor

The second-year centerfielder had a huge game last night, going 3-4 with two runs and three RBIs (including a late home run) and adding an eighth inning catch at the warning track to cutoff a potential Mets rally.

Be on the lookout for more about Harris' game on Braves Today this afternoon.

We Wrote It

Braves Today writer Dan Strickland had coverage of last night's series-clinching victory, and make a prescient observation about the fight in this Braves team.

Yet again, the Braves came through with some clutch hits tonight. In fact, the Braves scored all seven of their runs tonight with two outs. The game had a similar feel to last night, with the Mets jumping out to an early lead but the Braves rallying later in the game to bring home the win.
Scherzer was not unhittable tonight, but he did strike out several Braves hitters early in the game. The Braves kept battling and getting good at-bats to make Scherzer work. By the time they chased Scherzer in the bottom of the sixth inning, they had a 5-4 lead.

What's next for the Atlanta Braves?

The series finale is tonight at Truist Park. In one of the most anticipated pitching duels of the season, the Mets will send Justin Verlander (2-3, 4.25 ERA, 4.53 FIP) to the hill, and the Braves will counter with Spencer Strider (6-2, 2.97 ERA, 2.60 FIP).

First pitch at 7:20 PM ET. The game broadcast, with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin, is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports South and is available on MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com. And, as always, we'll have all your coverage right here on Braves Today.
