Kyle Tucker Sends Message to Dodgers Fans After Standing Ovation

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Kyle Tucker flipped the script on Saturday night, delivering for his team when they needed him most.

Tucker hit a go-ahead, two-run single in the fifth inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates, helping the Dodgers overcome an early 3-0 deficit. This was exactly the moment that Tucker needed, with him snapping a 0-for-26 hitting drought at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium that dated back to Aug. 2.

On Friday night, the fans gave Tucker a standing ovation to show him support through his struggles this season. And after his big hit, Tucker responded, sending a message back to the fans.

“It’s nice. They come out and support us every single day,” Tucker said. “They’ve been doing their part in supporting us and we just try and go out there and win games for them, so I’m just trying to do my part in that whole thing.”

The 2026 season has been one to forget for the former All-Star, with Tucker failing to produce on a consistent basis all year. Overall, he has hit .230 with 11 home runs and 57 RBIs, while posting an OPS of .688.

The single against the Pirates led to Tucker's first multi-RBI game since July 24.

Kyle Tucker's Home/Road Splits

Part of the problem for Tucker has been his inability to hit at home. Tucker has been a good player on the road, but his play at Dodger Stadium has been historically bad.

Tucker is hitting .187/.284/.266/.550 when playing at home. But his road numbers tell a different story, with Tucker slashing .271/.363/.457/.820.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts believes that the support from the fans did play a part in Tucker breaking through at the plate.

“I do think that the fans, every at-bat cheering for him, you’ve got to feel that as a player,” Roberts said. “It was really good for him to come through right there.”

Can Kyle Tucker Turn His Season Around?

After signing Tucker to the massive four-year, $240 million contract over the offseason, his offensive issues have been concerning. But Tucker has also been poor in the field, raising the thought that this may be more of a mental hurdle that he needs to overcome.

Roberts has hinted at this all season long, but he's made it clear that the clubhouse supports Tucker. This should give Tucker the confidence needed to break out of the long slump.

"I really feel like we turned a corner," Roberts said of Tucker before Friday's game. "Mentally, emotionally, I think that he's freed up. I don't know what that looks like, but I'm encouraged."

Tucker still has time to turn his season around, but there needs to be a sense of urgency with the postseason coming in a little over a month. The slugger has won a World Series before while with the Houston Astros, so he understands what it takes to win.

There will be a lot more pressure on him come playoff time, but having the support of his teammates is huge. Tucker is far too talented a player for this to continue, but it'll be completely up to him to tweak his game enough to consistently impact this club.
