There they are! There are the Cleveland Guardians we all know and love!

The Guardians started off the 2023 season with a difficult and disappointing night at the plate but bounced back 24 hours later as they grab their first win of the season with a 9-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners.

This win also ties up the series at one game apiece with two more games to be played.

The Guardians scored nine runs on 13 hits and all of that without hitting a single home run. Sound familiar to anyone? This was the exact formula that Cleveland had last year and it's the same model they used to get that first win.

Steven Kwan led the way on offense with two hits and five RBI, while Amed Rosario and Josh Naylor also had a pair of hits with a driven-in run.

The Guardians want to get on base as much as they can and they don't care how they do it. On top of their 13 hits, they also got on base eight times due to walks. Combine that with some aggressive base running from Andres Gimenez and multiple bloop RBI then you have yourself classic Guardians baseball.

The Guardians were able to get to former Cy Young winner Robbie Ray early on in the game showing that this offense isn't one for opposing teams to take lightly even though they don't have the power. Ray gave up five runs and four hits to the Guardians in just 3.1 innings of work.

On the pitching side, Hunter Gaddis made the start for the Guardians and looked fine in his role. He didn't blow anyone away with this start, but it could've been much worse. He finished the night with 3.2 IP, four ER, four strikeouts, and just one walk.

The bullpen crew of Nick Sandlin, Eli Morgan, Enyel De Los Santos, Trevor Stephan, and Emmanuel Clase all came into relief and didn't allow a run to cross the plate.

It's great to see the Guardians get into the win column and get that first one out of the way with. Cleveland will have a chance to get their second win of the season as Aaron Civale takes the mound on Saturday as the Guardians and Mariners will play the third game of this four-game series with the first pitch at 9:40 pm EST.
