The Cleveland Guardians have been looking for a spark from their pitching with all of the sour injury news they got to start the year. Both Triston McKenzie and Aaron Civale are a long way off as Cleveland keeps pace with the Minnesota Twins for first in the AL Central.

Que the MLB debut of Logan Allen.

Logan Allen has been on the minds of Guardians fans for a while now as he's been fantastic in the Minor League ever since he was drafted. It was never an "if he makes it" but a "when he makes it to the Big Leagues."

The left-handed pitcher did not waste his opportunity and showed why so many were so high on him as he made his first MLB start on Sunday afternoon. Allen was about as good as anyone could be in his fir Big League start.

He pitched 6.0 innings in his first outing striking out eight Marlin batters and only giving up one earned run. On top of this, he only walked one batter demonstrating incredible command of the strike zone.

This performance didn't go unnoticed by his manager Terry Francona who was impressed with his composure on the mound. After the game Tito said,

"His first five, six innings aren't going to define who he is. It's sure nice to see that. One, it gave us a better chance to win, it gives I think our guys in the clubhouse a boost. He had poise. Threw three pitches, and attacked, he did really well. He did really well.

So what's next for Allen?

It's hard to imagine the team optioning him back down after a debut such as that one. Cleveland is still dealing with plenty of injuries to the pitching staff and there are also some question marks even with them at full health.

Allen should be here to stay and this won't be his last phenomenal performance!
