Guardians' Will Brennan Sticking To Adjustments And Seeing Results

Cleveland Guardians: Will Brennan's new swing has translated to spring training success.

Will Brennan was supposed to be the Cleveland Guardians' answer to their long-lasting outfield offensive woes. The organization chose him over players such as Nolan Jones and Will Benson who they traded for my prospect capital.

However, Brennan's first full season in the big leagues didn't go the way he wanted it to. The right fielder was inconsistent at the plate and struggled with a high strikeout rate.

But to Brennan's credit, he did something about it.

Brennan came into spring training with an entirely new swing, setup up, and stance. It was impossible to notice the new look. Take a look at a breakdown of these major differences in this story.

So far, that redesigned offensive approach is paying off for him. Brennan has appeared in six games so far in camp and has hit .333/.375/.733 with an OPS of 1.108 including three extra-base hits and four RBI.

Brennan went 2-for-3 and hit a clutch two-run RBI single to help the Guardians beat the Seattle Mariners, 4-1, on Tuesday afternoon. This victory snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Guardians.

This performance caught Stephen Vogt's attention. After the game, he talked about what he'd seen from Brennan so ar far in camp.

"He's had really good at-bats," said Vogt. He's faced a lot of lefties so far this spring. The thing is, some of that can help you to get locked back in with righties and he's had some good at-bats. The adjustments that he's made, he's sticking to them and he's seeing some results. But I've really liked the swings he's taking."

Vogt makes a great point here. A player can make all the adjustments that they want in the winter, but there's no point if those modifications are abandoned week in.

Brennan is sticking with his new swing and seeing results.
