Each of these youngsters has become a headline-grabbing name within the Cleveland Guardians' organization, and rightfully so. Over the course of the last few years, they've established themselves as top-tier talents, quickly rising through the farm system and putting themselves on the radar as potential future stars.
But one name is quietly starting to join that elite list, even though he may be a few more years away from an appearance at the highest stage of the game.
On Thursday, August 21, the Guardians' No. 21-ranked prospect within the system, Welbyn Francisca, put his name right back in the headlines. Just days ago, he was being lauded as the Midwest League Player of the Week, becoming the fifth High-A Lake County Captain to receive the honor after bashing two doubles and five home runs across four games.
While he hasn't quite one-upped that hot stretch of outings, he did do something only some players can dream of: posting an inside-the-park home run.
That's right, at the age of 20 years old, Francisca recorded a two-run inside-the-park homer, helping lead the Captains past the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
In the top of the first inning, he smacked a deep shot off the left-field wall, with the ball bouncing away into center field. With a head full of steam, he shot around the bases and slid into home before the tag could be placed on him.

That moment, like many that have come before for Francisca, shows just how athletic and versatile his game is. Not only can he rip the ball over the fence, but he can also flash tremendous speed on the basepaths that makes it hard to stop him.
This season, Francsisca is slashing .279/.383/.550 for an OPS of .932. He has also now posted 10 doubles, one triple and 16 home runs. Swiping 12 bases along the way, he has only been caught twice.
With little power being flashed last season, while with the Single-A Lynchburg Hillcats (Now Hill City Howlers), he has taken a major step forward at the plate in the power department.
If he can show this isn't just some sort of one-year wonder, but instead just a full offseason of growth that translates to the field, Fransisca could be looking at a top-10 ranking within the system by the start of the 2027 season.
And with that, an appearance in Double-A Akron should come as well.
