They were not pleased.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Miami Marlins officials were angered over Tuesday night's game against the New York Mets at Citi Field being postponed due to unplayable field conditions.

Citi Field was hit hard for four days by Tropical Storm Ophelia, but the rain had slowed down by Tuesday afternoon when the tarp was removed from the field.

However, the infield dirt was a mess, even after the grounds crew worked on it for hours.

The reason why it was unplayable was due to the grounds crew leaving the tarp off the field on Saturday when the Mets played in Philadelphia.

As Mark Sanchez of The New York Post reported, it is not unusual to let the field take water as long as there is enough time for the field to dry.

While the forecast initially showed that storms would cease earlier, this was not the case, which didn't leave enough time to get the field in shape.

The game was called around 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday night, which created a doubleheader on Wednesday.

“Due to the significance of the game for the Marlins, every effort was made to make the field playable for tonight,” the Mets said in a statement Tuesday night.

Mets owner Steve Cohen even apologized to the Marlins and their fans on X for having to postpone the game.

“Our sincere apologies to the Marlins and their fans for having to postpone last night’s game,” Cohen said. “We know how important this series is to the Marlins and every effort was made to get the field playable."

The Marlins are a half game back of the third and final Wild Card spot in the National League.

They also have issues in their rotation, having lost ace Sandy Alcantara and Eury Perez to injuries.

The Marlins' plan was to pitch Braxton Garrett on Tuesday and then Sunday in the regular season finale. Now he is set to pitch in Wednesday's doubleheader and would be on short rest if he pitches Sunday.
