Several Teams Pursuing Ex-New York Mets' Ace

He's on the road to redemption.

Former New York Mets ace Noah Syndergaard has had a rough go of things over the past few seasons between injuries and underperformance.

Regardless, the hard-throwing righty, whose velocity is much lower than his 100 mph days before undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2020, is drawing interest from several teams, according to reports.

The San Diego Padres, Pittsburgh Pirates, Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Rays are keeping tabs on rotation depth options including Syndergaard, according to MLB insider Jon Morosi.

Syndergaard was traded from the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Cleveland Guardians for another former Met, Amed Rosario, at the deadline last summer. He was designated for assignment in the end of August after posting a 4.94 ERA in five starts.

The righty recently threw a bullpen session for 15 teams or so, per Jon Heyman of The New York Post. The Yankees were one of the teams in attendance, and Syndergaard was said to be throwing in the 90's.

Syndergaard will likely land a one-year prove it deal after posting a 6.50 ERA for Los Angeles and Cleveland last year.

Syndergaard was once a budding star, bursting onto the scene for the Mets in 2015, and making the All-Star team in 2016. He also finished eighth in the Cy Young race in 2016.

But after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2020, Syndergaard has been unable to gain his previous star-like form. Since leaving the Mets after 2021, he has played for four teams in the past two seasons.
