Philadelphia Phillies Linked as Potential Fit for Mariners Silver Slugger

The Philadelphia Phillies have been linked as a potential fit for a Seattle Mariners star and Silver Slugger.

The Philadelphia Phillies will be in pursuit of additional help at the MLB trade deadline this season.

One acquisition they could look to make is in the outfield as the team prepares to play Bryce Harper at first and slide Kyle Schwarber to the designated hitter position.

A name they could be on the lookout for is Seattle Mariners outfielder Teoscar Hernandez according to Phillies Nation

Hernandez is a two-time Silver Slugger and is a free agent after the season. Considering the Mariners appear to be out of the American League West division running, as well as the Wild Card race, Hernandez is an obvious choice to be moved.

This season, Hernandez is slashing .252/.301/.441 with 15 home runs. He plays a better outfield than Schwarber and would be an excellent bat to slot into Philadelphia's lineup.

As Phillies Nation points out, despite Hernandez being a "rental" it would still take a significant package to pry him away from the Mariners as they likely still have designs on contending for a Wild Card given the talent on their team.

It's just a matter if the Phillies are willing to meet the price tag Hernandez will have placed on him by Seattle.
