Phillies Set Pitching Probables for Blue Jays Series

The Philadelphia Phillies have set their rotation for their two-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays, which starts on Tuesday.
The Phillies (65-54) are coming off losing two out of three to the Minnesota Twins. But, the Phillies still have the No. 1 seed among the National League Wild Card teams.
Zack Wheeler (9-5, 3.74) will take the ball in Tuesday’s game, set for 7:07 p.m. eastern. He took the victory against Washington last Tuesday, throwing six innings. He gave up seven hits, three runs and struck out six. It was his second win in three starts.
In Wheeler’s last seven starts he is 4-2 with a 3.50 ERA. He’s thrown 43.2 innings, striking out 49 and walking three.
Toronto is expected to start Yusei Kikuchi (9-4, 3.53). The left-hander lost his last start against Cleveland, throwing seven innings and giving up just three hits and a run. He struck out six and walked one. He’s 2-2 in his last seven starts with a 3.05 ERA with 40 strikeouts and 10 walks.
Aaron Nola (9-8, 4.49) is expected to start Wednesday’s game, which will also start at 7:07 p.m. He took a no-decision in his last start against Washington on Thursday, throwing five innings and giving up five hits and a run. He struck out six and walked one. He now has 153 strikeouts and 35 walks this season.
In his last seven starts, Nola is 2-3 with a 4.43 ERA, striking out 51 and walking six in 42.2 innings.
Toronto is expected to start right-hander Kevin Gausman (9-6, 3.04), who won his last start against Cleveland on Wednesday. He threw seven innings, giving up four hits and no runs. He struck out six and he now has 183 strikeouts for the season. He is 2-3 in his last seven starts with a 2.90 ERA, with 56 strikeouts and nine walks in 40.1 innings.
Thursday will be an off-day for the Phillies before they take on Washington starting on Friday.
