Wild Rumor Surrounding Phillies and Reds Game Thoroughly Debunked

There was quite a rumor circulating about the state of the Philadelphia Phillies' game that was debunked by none other than Citizens Bank Park themselves.

On Wednesday, April 3, games all across Major League Baseball were affected by inclement weather and the Philadelphia Phillies were no exception.

The contest against the Cincinnati Reds was originally scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET before things were changed ahead of time to 4:05 p.m.

Even those adjustments weren't good enough to get the game started as the weather kept coming down and causing the first pitch to be pushed back.

With both teams waiting to see if they would be able to get the contest in, there was a wild rumor that was stated on the Reds' local broadcast that circulated across social media.

According to Jim Day, Citizens Bank Park is "booked tomorrow".

Jim Day of Bally Sports Cincinnati made the statement that spread like wildfire.

"When we came here we knew that both teams had a common offday tomorrow, then we learned that this facilty is booked tomorrow, so they will wait as long as they need to tonight to try and get this in because the Reds do not come back to Philadelphia unless it is a makeup game."

The report that Citizens Bank Park was booked on April 4 turned into speculation that there was a wedding planned at the stadium according to Dylan Wilkerson.

To clarify, there is no wedding scheduled at Citizens Bank Park tomorrow.

That inflammatory statement was debunked by none other than Citizens Bank Park's official social media page as they responded to the original post.

If there's actually an event that's booked is unknown, but there is certainly not a wedding planned that will take place at the stadium.

Based on the amount of wind, it seems very unlikely that they might get Wednesday's game in. If they are able to find a window to play, it would probably be a shortened five or six inning contest that could go down as official so Cincinnati doesn't have to return later in the season.

Maybe the stadium is available tomorrow after all and these are all rumors that have no truth behind them whatsoever.

If they aren't able to play, an official announcement will come saying what the plans are going to be moving forward so that internet speculation doesn't run rampant.
