Daytona Tortugas Unveil Roster Ahead of Opening Day

The Daytona Tortugas have officially released their Opening Day roster with the season beginning on Thursday. Cincinnati Reds pitcher Nick Lodolo will be the starter in a rehab start.

Tortugas announcer Matthew Mounsey caught up with the left-hander in Daytona on Wednesday.

"It's good now," Lodolo said. "I haven't gotten in any game action yet since Spring Training. I am looking forward to tomorrow."

Daytona will feature five top-30 prospects on the opening roster, headlined by MLB Top-100 prospect Tyson Lewis.

Tyson Lewis

Tyson Lewis made his organizational debut last season and had a great season. Between the Arizona Complex League and Daytona, the then 19-year-old slashed .311/.376/.486 with nine home runs, six triples, 16 doubles, and 54 RBIs. The strikeout was his Achilles heel; he struck out in 29 percent of his at-bats in 2025 at all levels and 35 percent in Daytona.

Lewis is a five-tool prospect. He hits for a ton of power, setting the Reds organization Statcast record for exit velocity for his second professional hit. The tools are there for the 20-year-old infielder, who will play both shortstop and third base.

Arnaldo Lantigua

The Reds acquired the 20-year-old in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for international signing pool space. The 6'2" outfielder slashed .265/.238/.304 with 12 home runs. The Reds like his potential to be an impact bat in the future. His defense limits him to a corner outfield spot, but his bat will be what carries him through the organization.

Sheng-En Lin

The Reds originally went the two-way route with him, but it looks like he will be solely a pitcher going forward. He's performed fairly well at the plate to this point, slashing .258/.392/.373 with 19 extra-base hits and 50 RBIs in his minor league career. As a pitcher in 2025, he pitched in 15 games with a 3.06 ERA, 61 strikeouts, and a batting average against him of just .169. With a sole focus on the mound, the Reds' 11th-ranked prospect headlines a talented rotation in Daytona.

The Tortugas are the Reds' Single-A affiliate in Daytona Beach, Florida. They play in Jackie Robinson Ballpark. They begin their season on Thursday versus the Jupiter Hammerheads.
