Latest Kyle Karros News Puts Rockies in Another Bind at Third Base

The Rockies infielder again hits the injured list.

The Colorado Rockies announced a roster move ahead of their series finale with the Cleveland Guardians and it is not good news for their third baseman. Kyle Karros again is headed to the injured list, this time with a concussion, and the stint currently is for seven days.

Karros was just recently activated from the injured list and was working his way back. For him to hit the injured list again for the second time in as many days is super unfortunate for the young infielder.

The Rockies and manager Warren Schaeffer are again having to navigate their infield without Karros and it remains to be seen if he stays on the injured list past those seven days. If he does, it could mean that his season is over with not a lot of time remaining.

Schaeffer and crew obviously are hoping for the best with Karros this time around but likely want to be cautious. Concussions are not something to be messed with especially with athletes and for the time being Willi Castro takes his spot at the hot corner.

Castro is a guy that can play all around the diamond for the Rockies and has been a guy in his whole career that has been the super utility guy. He has been that for the Rockies this season playing at first base, second base, third base, and even shortstop.

Castro so far this season is slashing .264/.333/.421 which is good for an OPS of .755. Those numbers for a guy of Castro's caliber being a guy that is super utility, is numbers that teams would be happy with every day of the week.

Karros hitting the injured list again twice within a span of days is a move that is unfortunate for the player and his development. But it would not be the worst thing in the world that if this concussion lasts him longer than most that it could end his season.

Karros is going to be a guy that Schaeffer and staff can rely on for years to come as he is going to be part of the future for the Rockies. He is going to be part of a Rockies team later down the line that contends. It is no harm no foul if his season is over as Castro has his back.
