Jacob Berry Off to Hot Start After Joining Royals Organization

The newest player in the Royals organization is starting off on a high note

One of the more recent players to join the Kansas City Royals organization is Jacob Berry. The Royals acquired Berry from the Miami Marlins in exchange for cash considerations.

Berry was the sixth overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. Expectations were high, as he was viewed as one of the most polished hitters in his draft class, but he never really found his footing with the Marlins organization.

Since being acquired by the Royals, the 25-year-old has wasted no time producing, putting together an impressive first three games with Triple-A Omaha.

Berry has quickly shown why he was selected sixth overall in 2022 through his first few games with the Storm Chasers. The infielder/outfielder is slashing .444/.583/1.000 with a 1.583 OPS, while also going yard in his first nine at-bats.

Now, yes, take this with a grain of salt, as the sample size is very small, but seeing Berry come out of the gates swinging and producing is a great sign. In 243 at-bats before arriving in Omaha, he was slashing .251/.372/.362.

While the power may not be there, he makes up for it with his disciplined approach at the plate. He has drawn 48 walks this season, just one shy of his career high for a single season, with plenty of games left to be played.

I think this was a good move by Kansas City, as sometimes a change of scenery is all it takes for a player. Eyes will be on Berry to see if this production continues and what he could bring to the Royals in the future.
