Yankees' Aaron Hicks Leaves Game With Hip Injury

The Yankees' injured list could be expanding in the near future.

On Tuesday night, Aaron Hicks exited the Yankees' game against the Oakland Athletics due to left hip tightness.

Hicks was examined by the Yankees' team doctor and will be reevaluated on Wednesday.

Hicks appeared to tweak his hip while rounding the bases to score a run in the third inning.

After getting off to a brutal start this season, Hicks picked up a double on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays, before hitting his first home run against the A's on Monday. These were Hicks' first extra-base hits of the season.

The results, plus the matchup, led manager Aaron Boone to start Hicks in left field on Tuesday night.

Boone and the Yankees are hoping that Hicks' recent production can help take some of the pressure off of him.

“He’s been working hard,’’ Boone said. “There’s definitely a little weight [off] and a little relief when you get some results or a big hit. Hopefully the last couple of days of getting some firsts [of the season] out of the way or you come through in a spot. You hope that will settle down someone and build on momentum.”

Despite enduring some recent success, Hicks is now a health question mark as his hip will be reevaluated tomorrow.
