Professional ballroom dancer Adrianne Haslet-Davis will return to the Boston Marathon on April 18 after losing her leg in the twin bombings of the 2013 race, she announced on the Hallmark Channel.
Haslet-Davis, 35, lost her left leg below the knee in the terrorist attack that killed three and injured more than 230 others. She was cheering for the runners, when the second of the two bombs exploded near the finish line on Boylston Street.
She will be running for the Limbs for Life organization that provides prostheses to low-income amputees.
After making a full recovery, Haslet-Davis will run the race with a carbon-fiber blade in her left leg.
"Back in 2013, I vowed to dance again and made a pledge to run the Boston Marathon. I've since danced, and on April 18, 2016, I will make good on that promise," she told the Associated Press.
She has also resumed her professional career as a ballroom dancer.
