In the hours leading up to the trade deadline, the Philadelphia 76ers made a flurry of moves to change the roster. While some trades could be seen as predictable, there was one that caught many by surprise.
After signing with the team in the offseason, Patrick Beverley finds himself traded at the deadline for the second year in a row. The Sixers moved the veteran guard to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Cam Payne and a second-round pick.

This move was first reported by the main account of Beverley's podcast, The Pat Bev pod. Not long after, the veteran guard took to his personal account to share his thoughts. Having been in the NBA for over a decade now, he understands it's a business. Nonetheless, he made sure to show to Philly on his way out.

Moving Beverley is a tough blow for the Sixers, on and off the floor. Along with losing a vocal leader in the locker room, the second unit loses a hard-nosed perimeter defender. Before being traded, Beverley averaged 6.3 PPG, 3.1 RPG, and 3.1 APG for the Sixers.
While Beverley might be on the move again, he is heading to a good situation. The Bucks are one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, and have their sights set on contending for a championship. After spending the first half of the year playing alongside Joel Embiid, he'll now flank a new superstar duo in Giannis and Damian Lillard. Also, Beverley will be reuniting with Doc Rivers, who coached him during his stint with the LA Clippers.
As for the Sixers, they're bringing in an offensive-minded point guard in Cam Payne. This season, he is averaging 6.2 PPG, 1.3 RPG, and 2.3 APG.
