On Friday night, the Philadelphia 76ers hosted the Atlanta Hawks, looking to extend their winning streak which started earlier in the week,

They would do just that, as they took down the Hawks, 125-114, thanks in part to large performances from Joel Embiid, and De'Anthony Melton.

Tyrese Maxey had himself a night as well, dropping 30 points, including four makes from beyond the arch, and seven assists.

This isn't to say that Atlanta went out quietly as the two sides exchanged the lead six times, which includes the Hawks' nine point lead in the beginning of the third quarter.

With their win on Friday night, Philadelphia's record improves to 14-7, which stills sits them a game behind the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference standings.

What Were The Takeaways?

Embiid Adds To Impressive Performances Against Hawks

For yet another game, the defending MVP led his team to victory, scoring 38 points, on an efficient 50-percent from the field, while also securing 14 rebounds for his team, which in part would help them record 17 second chance points.

This isn't anything new for Embiid, as the Cameroonian super star is used to having himself a night against the Hawks, averaging a 25-point, ten rebound double-double in his games facing the Eastern Conference side.

Another note worthy part of the 29-year-old's outing on Friday night was his four blocks, which was his highest count in three games.

Tobias Harris bounces back

While Tobias Harris' 13 point night doesn't sound too impressive, it's a sign that he is getting back to where he was earlier in the season.

In his previous game against the Wizards, Harris struggled from the field, scoring six points on 33-percent shooting, making his minutes worth it by securing six rebounds.

This season, Harris is averaging 17 points on 51-percent shooting, so Friday night's 13 point performance is a step in the right direction for Philadelphia's veteran forward.

Atlanta is still a threat without Young

Going into Friday night's match, it was announced that Trae Young would be sidelined from the match due to an illness, effectively putting a hole in Atlanta's offense.

This would be anything but the case though, as the Hawks put up a valiant effort, with De'Andre Hunter leading the way with 24 points on 50-percent shooting from the field.

Other notable stat lines include 20 point nights from Bogdan Bogdanovic, who took Young's spot in the lineup, and Dejounte Murray.

Clint Capela provided the Sixers' big men with quite the challenge on the interior, securing 16 rebound as well as making six shots in the paint.
