This didn't look as if it was always going to be the case after Springer opened the season off strong, appearing in 11 games, averaging three points per game, while still presenting himself as a threat on the defensive end.
Saturday night will be the first time since the G-League Finals that Springer will suit up for Delaware, a series that saw him be named the G-League Finals MVP.
In order to make space for Springer in the Blue Coats roster, they have waived Jarron Cumberland, who appeared in seven matches this season, averaging two points per game.
The 21-year-old isn't the only player who is set to be injected into the Blue Coats lineup as Darius Bazley is active.
Bazley was acquired by the Blue Coats on Friday afternoon, coming in from the Wisconsin Herd, the G-League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Across his four seasons in the NBA, Bazley averaged nine points and five rebounds, surely providing some much-needed depth for the Blue Coats' front court.
Delaware is set to take on the Greensboro Swarm on Saturday night, with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m. EST.
