Joel Embiid Joins Sixers' Legends After Dominant Performance vs. Timberwolves

In this story:
Recently Joel Embiid has been on a tear, which goes beyond his current 13-game streak of scoring at least 30 points, as his last three games have been even more noteworthy.
Against the Charlotte Hornets on December 16, the reigning MVP went off, scoring 41 points on a stellar 78 percent from the field, while also grabbing 15 rebounds, which was the start of a new streak for the Cameroonian superstar.
This streak would continue on Monday night as the Sixers took on the Chicago Bulls, where Embiid would drop 40 points and secure 14 boards, en route to a close 104-108 loss.
On Wednesday night, it was no different as the 29-year-old put on a masterclass against the Minnesota Timberwolves, a team in which he failed to play against earlier in the season due to hip soreness, as a dropped a season-high 53 points on an impeccable 68 percent shooting, while recording 12 rebounds.
With this performance, Embiid is the first Sixer with three straight games of scoring 40+ points, and recording ten or more rebounds since Wilt Chamberlain achieved this feat in 1967.

Yet, Embiid's recent run doesn't just see his name next to Chamberlain's in just that streak, as he also tied a franchise record on Wednesday night for longest streak of scoring at least 35 points, which Chamberlain and Allen Iverson having both done it for five games during their respective careers.

If Embiid wishes to continue this streak, he'll have the opportunity to do so on Friday night, as the Sixers welcome the Toronto Raptors into the Wells Fargo Center.
